Pario Engineering & Environmental Sciences LP (Pario), one of Canada’s top providers of specialized engineering and environmental services to the insurance and risk management industries, is pleased to announce the addition of Scott Wheeler as Fire and Explosion Investigator.
Mr. Wheeler comes to Pario with more than 32 years of Fire Investigation experience which includes time as a Firefighter, Fire Prevention Officer, and Fire Investigator. Mr. Wheeler started his fire services career as a volunteer firefighter at the Eastern Passage and Cow Bay Fire Department in 1986 and in a few short years became a full-time member of the Halifax Regional Fire Services. In 2001, Mr. Wheeler was promoted to Fire Prevention Officer and in 2005 became a Certified Fire Investigator, after which he began conducting investigations for Halifax Regional Fire Services. Throughout his career, Mr. Wheeler had investigated over 400 structural fires, assisted in determining the cause and origin, and was involved in 18 fatal fire investigations. He is qualified as an Expert Witness in Nova Scotia Provincial Court and has provided his expertise to a number of legal cases.
Aside from his field work, Mr. Wheeler also spent a portion of his career researching florescent light application as it applies to ignitable liquids at fire scenes. He has contributed to investigative knowledge in the field through conducting test burns with various materials to observe the effect of the spread of fire and testing high wattage lights as an ignition source.
Mr. Wheeler has been a member of a number of professional memberships, including: International Association of Arson Investigators; National Association of Fire Investigators; and the Canadian Association of Fire Investigators. Thanks to a background that encompasses all aspects of fire services, he has expanded his knowledge of fire prevention and education with an extensive number of courses ranging from courtroom procedures through to wildfire fighting.
