Welcome Neil Ralston!
Pario Engineering & Environmental Sciences is excited to welcome Neil Ralston to the team as one of our Senior Fire Investigators on Vancouver Island.
Neil began his professional career in the UK as a police officer, where he gained extensive investigative experience. After moving to Canada, he joined the Edmonton Police Service, bringing with him valuable insights from his time in the UK. His service allowed him to fulfill his long-time goal of living in Canada—an opportunity he continues to appreciate.
After his years in policing, Neil transitioned into the insurance industry, where he played a pivotal role in developing a fire fraud investigation program focused on large loss property claims. His commitment to fire investigations led him to work with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), where he helped train in-house investigators. His impact over a span of five years was significant, saving millions annually in fraudulent claims and establishing a team of experts.
During his time in insurance, he recognized a lack of consistency in fire reporting, which motivated him to become more involved in forensic fire investigations. Neil now specializes in complex fire investigations, where he handles 160-180 cases annually. He finds the field rewarding as it allows him to bring closure to clients, prevent future incidents, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders. Neil states, “I find it rewarding to bring closure to clients who are seeking to understand the cause of a fire”. He’s proud that his work can prevent future incidents. His commitment to timely service and professional, high-quality reporting has earned him a loyal base of clients.
Neil was drawn to Pario because of its strong reputation and the exciting opportunity to contribute to its growth on Vancouver Island. He is particularly excited about Pario’s expansion and enjoys the collaborative team environment and the openness of colleagues and managers alike.
Outside of work, Neil enjoys spending time outdoors with his three children. His hobbies include fishing, hiking, skiing, and biking—activities that allow him to stay active while appreciating the natural beauty of Vancouver Island.
