Fire Investigator - Full Time (Halifax, Nova Scotia)

Pario Engineering & Environmental Sciences is currently seeking a Fire Investigator in the Halifax, Nova Scotia area who is dynamic, motivated, and passionate about their career to support our expansion in South Western Ontario.

The successful applicant will be responsible for performing forensic fire investigations to determine the origin and cause for structure and vehicle fires. Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must. Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs is a must. Good presentation skills are an asset. Must be able to communicate effectively with clients and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Assess, analyze and report on the origin and cause fires
• Interview witnesses, service personnel and other local officials
• Inspections shall include, but not be limited to, roofs, attics, crawlspaces, partially destroyed buildings, fire damaged buildings, and elevated structures
• Able to recognize potential subrogation opportunities
• The ability to climb, work at heights, and work in all temperatures is required
• The ability to assess the general safety of fire damaged structures is essential
• Lead project(s) from start to finish
• Provide clear, accurate, and timely reports

Qualifications:

• Minimum CFEI, CFI, or CVFI, or the ability to become certified is a must
• Minimum 3-5 years’ relevant work experience
• Preferably including a strong background in fire investigation or equivalent work experience
• Experience within the insurance and legal industry is a must
• A demonstrated track record of taking projects to successful completion
• Proficient in standard Microsoft Office (MS Word, Outlook & Excel)
• A strong understanding of the Fire Code
• Class G driver’s license or equivalent as recognized by Province of employment
• Positive, self-driven, motivated, personal attitude
• A willingness and passion to support the marketing and sales department through attendance at presentations and industry events
• Customer facing experience: Ability to discuss projects budgets with clients and maintain continuous communications throughout the project

Forensic Mechanic - Motor Vehicle Collision Reconstruction - Full Time (Concord, Ontario, Canada)

When a motor vehicle accident occurs, the scale and scope of damage requires specific expertise to not only analyze the incident, but to provide recommendations going forward. Our Canadian team has that expertise. Beginning with an examination of the vehicle, we document and analyze all possible contributing factors to the accident and couple that with any information gleaned from police reports or witness to the incident. We are currently seeking a Forensic Mechanic - Motor Vehicle Collision Reconstruction to work out of our Concord, Ontario office. The successful candidate will use their technical background to develop the skills necessary to assist with motor vehicle collision reconstruction. The work will involve attending sites, obtaining measurements, vehicle data collection, surveying/scanning vehicles and scenes. This position may also involve some degree of business development.

Role Responsibilities:

• Conduct site investigations – Photography, Measuring and Scanning.
• Knowledge of the use of test equipment for site investigations such as brake testing, curve acceleration testing, visibility (day/night).
• Conduct vehicle (automobile, motorcycle, heavy truck, off-road) assessments and measure/survey the exterior damage, examine and assess the vehicle restraint systems, able to download and analyze vehicle crash data.

Qualifications:

• Licensed mechanic for general vehicles (heavy vehicle experience an asset).
• Minimum 10+ years' work experience required.
• Must have valid G license, and ability to work in remote areas, as well as in a range of temperatures and weather conditions.
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and good command of the English language.
• Familiarity with Berla and CDR downloads is an asset.

The work will involve such activities as deemed necessary to carry out accident reconstruction, which may include: attending sites, obtaining measurements, vehicle data collection, surveying/scanning vehicles and scenes, and running analyses. This position will also involve some degree of business development.

Role Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and potentially attend site investigations – Photography, Measuring and Surveying
• Knowledge of the use of test equipment for site investigations such as brake testing, curve acceleration testing, visibility (day/night) testing and Slip Testing Equipment in the case of slip and fall accidents
• Conduct vehicle investigations (automobile, motorcycle, heavy truck, off-road), assess and measure/survey the exterior damage, examine and assess the vehicle restraint systems, able to download and analyze vehicle crash data

Role Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Transportation) or Material Science.
• Licensure in a provincial Engineering Association, or ability to become licensed a must
• Must have 7-10 years' of relevant experience
• Flexibility with travel as required
• Familiarity with PC Crash is an asset
• Must have excellent verbal and written English communication skills
• Must have valid G license and clean driving record, as well as the ability to work in remote areas, and in a range of temperatures and weather conditions.
