3 Laboratories
While Pario’s work begins in the field—assessing and collecting materials, products, site conditions, or structures--in many cases, these items and samples need to be brought to a lab for further examination. To meet that requirement, Pario has three materials laboratories, making our forensic engineering firm a true single-source solution for investigations. Strategically located in Vancouver, Halifax and Toronto our labs have the equipment necessary to complete a thorough and full investigation. Our clients appreciate this factor because having our own labs reduces the need for outside contractors and additional laboratory testing fees which decreases the cost of the investigation.
Lab capabilities
Our dirty and clean labs allow for:
Lab assessments by our forensic engineers include the use of non-destructive visual examinations including Stereo and Optical Microscopy and Scanning Electron Microscopy to identify properties and failure modes of materials.
Advanced software is employed to identify fracture surface details and stress raisers such as machining marks, corrosion pits and inclusions.
Comparative situational tests on the component(s), and functional inspections and testing are conducted, tracked, and monitored to provide a clear understanding of the failure mechanism and thus reduce the risk to our clients.
Lab equipment
Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM): An SEM offers much higher magnification and resolution than traditional microscope technology making it a far greater investigative tool. Plus, while many other forensic engineering firms have to use a university to access an SEM, Pario has their own on site which translates into major cost savings for our clients.
FARO 3D scanner: Pario’s FARO 3D scanner gives us a permanent record of the subject area down to the millimeter. This exacting 3D analysis allows our team to measure and analyze data with a high degree of precision, providing accurate results and expediting reconstruction processes. Our forensic engineering team uses this tool for surveying any size residential or commercial property, and when performing environmental site assessments.
Keyence VHX Digital Microscopes
Having Keyence VHX digital microscopes in our laboratories in Vancouver and Toronto significantly enhances our analytical capabilities, allowing us to capture ultra-clear, high-resolution images with ease. Its wide magnification range and automated features, such as image stitching and 3D modelling, streamline our inspection processes, ensuring precise and reliable results every time. This advanced technology not only boosts our efficiency but also elevates the quality of our research and analysis, making our laboratories leaders in our industry.
