Alain is a geologist with 22 years of experience, including 20 in environmental geology and two in mineral exploration. He specializes in spill response, with 12 years of experience providing legal support and peer review. He served as an emergency responder for the Lac-Mégantic railway catastrophe and as an emergency responder and project manager for the 2009 Stoneham, Quebec tanker spill and several large pipeline spills. He also practised as a licensed insurance adjuster during the 1998 Quebec ice storm. Alain holds a Bachelor of Science in Geology and a Master of Science in Geochemistry from McGill University, along with several certifications. His professional memberships include the Quebec Order of Geologists, Professional Geoscientists Ontario, Geoscientists Nova Scotia, Professional Engineers and Geoscientists – Newfoundland & Labrador, and the Northwest Territories and Nunavut Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists.
